La Follette High School Class of ‘83

25thYear Reunion Weekend

July 11, 12, and 13, 2008                                                                               (view this document in PDF)

The party is over. See you in 2013 or sooner! Check out some photos from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

Celebrate the “choyness” of times past and present by reconnecting with old friends and making new ones at these events:

25th Year Reunion Weekend Kickoff: Friday, July 11th from 7:30 p.m. until bar time at Pedro’s, 3555 E. Washington Avenue. Just show up with or without your significant other. Encourage your friends from other La Follette graduating classes to crash this party too. Cash bar, casual.

La Follette School Tour and Archives/History Museum: Saturday, July 12th , from 1-3 p.m. at La Follette. Meet in the Archives/History Museum right by the LMC (The LMC is still where it was 25 years ago--enter at the F-Wing by the parking lot and follow the signs, if you can’t remember.)  Everything from old issues of “The Lance” to prom dresses, athletic uniforms, and old yearbooks are  on display in this award-winning museum. If you have La Follette memorabilia items that you would like to donate to this permanent collection, please bring them with you.

The Big Event: Saturday, July 12th, from 6:30 p.m. until midnight at the East Side Club on Lake Monona (formerly the East Side Businessmen’s Association—where we held our 10 Year Reunion) Semi-formal. Enjoy dancing to 80’s music, slides and home movies of our high school days and past class reunions. COST: $25/ person in advance or $35/per person at the door – includes hors d’oeuvres catered by Blue Plate Catering, beer, soda, and coffee (there will also be a cash bar). Note the good deal: Cost of advanced ticket this year is just half the cost of what it was for our 20th  Reunion!

Family Picnic: Sunday, July 13th from noon until 4 p.m. at the Monona Dream Park (at the Gazebo). A chance to meet the families of your classmates—bring your kids (and grandkids if you have some by now)! Take Nichols Rd., turn left on Healy . This is a picnic but it’s BYOE (bring your own everything). We’re attempting to keep costs down and to keep things more simple.

Please help the reunion planners by completing the form below and returning it before July 3rd (the sooner the better) with your full payment for Saturday’s Big Event.

Along with your reunion check please also consider sending a check made out to the La Follette Archives and History Museum (contributions are tax deductible). In celebration of our 25th Year Reunion, the Class of ’83 is initiating a fundraising campaign to raise $13,000 needed for this worthwhile and impressive project. We hope other graduating classes and businesses will also join us in this effort. $3,000 will go for immediate needs and $10,000 more will qualify it for an Endowment Fund to secure ongoing support through the Madison Foundation for Public Schools. The La Follette Archives and History Museum preserves the history of La Follette High School. As it helps history come alive for students, it is also used as a teaching tool to equip students with critical thinking & primary researching skills. Please visit www.madison.k12.wi.us/laf/archives/ for more info on this project.

Also please visit our class website at www.lafollette83.org and help locate missing classmates.

And please spread the word about the La Follette Class of ’83 25th Year Reunion Weekend!
